Our client, a local Government department located in South Western Sydney is seeking an experienced Storeman/General Attendant to work in their Building & Construction division. Your role is a partof Class & College Support Staff, providing high level of customer service to support the effective and efficient delivery of educational programs.  

Role responsibilities:-


  • The role of Class and College Support Staff is to provide high level customer service to support the effective and efficient delivery of educational programs.
  • This position may be required to work to a roster and to carry out manual handling activities.
  • This position contributes to the daily operational needs of the College.


  • Preparing, issuing, receiving and recording of tools, equipment and materials required by students and staff for the conduct of classes.
  • Supervising inward stores and checking and recording of same.
  • Conducting minor maintenance, cleaning, oiling and painting of small tools, machines and equipment used within the work area.
  • Assisting with the security of tools, equipment, materials and other TAFE property.
  • Performing general housekeeping of tool store, equipment store, workshop areas as required.
  • Checking equipment, power tools, measuring equipment and other TAFE property to ensure safe working order prior to issue.
  • Assisting in loading and unloading of delivery trucks and removal and transport of furniture and the replacement of defective lighting where practicable in accordance with approved OH&S standards and procedures.
  • Minimising wastage by reclaiming materials for re-use as directed.
  • Monitor stock levels of required materials and consumables.
  • Applying the principles of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), Ethical Practice, Ethnic Affairs Priority Statement (EAPS) and Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) and other legislative requirements.
  • Undertaking other duties relevant to the position as required.

To be successful in this role, you will need to fulfil the following requirements:-

  • Must have a trade’s background preferably in building and construction.
  • Must have a “Working with Children’s” check clearance.
  • Must be willing to undertake a Criminal Background Records Check clearance.
  • Must be a resident of Australia.
  • Must have strong communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Must have strong customer service/interpersonal skills.
  • Must have strong attention to detail.
