Role Description

My client, a forward-thinking, privately owned Australian company that stands behind some of the world's most recognised homeware brands, is currently seeking an experienced sales account manager with strong analytical skills and a passion for customer service to bring fresh new ideas to their Adelaide office.

The successful candidate will be responsible for effectively controlling the selling of basic range merchandise by carton quantity supply and vendor refill system. The Account Manager must also effectively control the presale of promotional activity to selected customers and achieve sales targets each month and seeking new business in line with the company’s standards and requirements.

You will be also be responsible for but not limited to:


• Attend to customers credits effectively and promptly following the company’s required procedure;
• Follow up on any overdue accounts;
• Strictly execute the control and accuracy of all vendor refill scan counts for customers using the vendor refill system;
• Service accounts efficiently and professionally on a regular basis;
• Promptly and efficiently deal with all account requests and credits;
• Ensure as much exposure and presentation of the company’s ranges;
• Inform customers of forthcoming media advertising;
• Maintain good working relationships with all accounts and personnel within those accounts from owners to sales staff;
• Manage customer margins.


• Ensure any financial changes of current accounts are reported immediately to head office;
• Recommend the acceptance of new accounts where opportunities exist to increase and improve business;
• Recommend the closing of accounts where the account is no longer deemed viable
• Accurately maintain customer records.


• Encourage accounts to increase and improve location for all the company’s stock;
• Ensure company identification is prominent at point of sale by displaying advertorials in retail shops and encourage accounts to supply display windows for the company’s stock.


• Continuously report and update state and head office on prevailing marketing conditions in the territory both for the company and our competitors;
• Report on advertising impact of the company and competitors activities;
• Determine in conjunction with management the viability of each account in your territory and to effectively view the potential of new business opportunities;
• Ensure all necessary steps are taken to achieve the sales targets set for each month and to also increase the business with each and every account to an acceptable level which relevantly exceeds the previous year’s figures;
• Determine targets with management after initial call cycle and enable more accurate assessment of the potential of each and every account;
• Targets to be reviewed twice yearly;
• Report weekly of all activities undertaken including figures achieved for the week, suggestions and ideas, basic feedback from the market place and competitors activity.


• Ensure the territory is exploited and serviced in the most economical manner;
• Ensure the itineraries are planned with the foremost in mind, adhering to the company’s rules and practices with travelling.


• Ensure a vital link between the head office and market place;
• Weekly reports with details must be submitted no later than Monday of the following week;
• Expense reports must be filled in on a weekly basis and submitted with weekly reports.
